Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State has ordered accelerated investigation into the alleged battering of a beauty queen, Elizabeth Oyeniyi, by the state Commissioner for Water Resources, Abdumumini Danga. Oyeniyi had accused the commissioner of assaulting and raping her over a  Facebook  post. Oyeniyi had on March 29, 2020, made a post on her  Facebook  page about Danga not taking care of his sibling, who is her friend. It was gathered that the post did not go down well with Danga and he allegedly ordered his boys to look for Oyeniyi and beat her up. The victim told  PUNCH Metro  that after she was beaten by the boys, she was ordered to strip naked and apologise to the commissioner thereafter. A Facebook user known as Maradeam Osuji has taken to the platform to reveal that Delta State University, DELSU female students are now being robbed of their pants at gunpoint. Reports have it that unknown hoodlums are now stopping girls and snatching their panties at gunpoint for reasons best known to them. It was also claimed in one of the online reports that some girls are also being forced by the gunmen to urinate in cellophane bags.  The students and residents of Abraka are now calling on the vice-chancellor, state government and security agents to do something about the negative growing trend. Protest in Senate over Buhari’s $496m aircraft purchase The Senate President, Bukola Saraki, at the plenary on Wednesday, read a letter from President Muhammadu Buhari seeking the approval of the legislature for the withdrawal of $496m from the Excess Crude Account for the purchase of military aircraft. Buhari, in the letter, however, disclosed that the money had been withdrawn and paid to the United States for the 12 Super Tucano aircraft, ahead of legislative approval. This, he said, was done to beat the deadline for the arms deal. The planes will be delivered in 2020.
